Leaks

Leaks sometimes occur in fire protection systems. These are sometimes spotted immediately, but sometimes it can take a long time before they are noticed if they are very small or underground. In both cases, QUALM can trace and repair the leak. We have two methods to do this.

1. LeakFinder –This apparatus ‘listens’ to your mains at two different points, localising the leak. Its advantage is that large parts of the ground do not need to be dug up to find the leak and your fire protection system remains operational.

2. Gas injection – We inject a tracer gas into the mains. This gas is not harmful and has no smell or taste. The gas that escapes through the leak can be localised above ground. This method also allows your system to remain operational and it does not need to be emptied.
